Why Texans Need to check their voter status

These are the lazy, hazy days of summer. You sit by the pool, enjoy a cocktail, and relax. A word of advice. If you are listening to the news, make sure that there are more cocktails around. You’ll need them.

The inglorious gang of six on the Supreme Court – Thomas and Alito, the conjoined twins who will forever vote alike, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett and Chief Justice John Roberts (the architect of Bush v. Gore), need to take a course in Constitution 101. They have given the go-ahead for the President to curtail or limit mail-in voting.

Donald Trump wants to control the elections in this country. With the combination of the Supreme Court, Project 2025, and all the Republican boot lickers in Congress, he may get to do exactly that. And yet, according to the Constitution, elections do not fall under the purview of the President. Unless, and this is the wet dream of the hard right: Trump can declare a national security emergency for elections. Then we would see proof of citizenship, photo ID and a real limit to mail-in voting as part of our lives.

Trump and his cohort at the USPS, postmaster general David Steiner, are pretty much making the rules and the lower courts be damned. The Board of Governors of the USPS is being packed with Republicans who have doubts about who won the 2020 election.

The President of the United States wants all the voter rolls under his control. We have never had a problem with elections before 2020. There would be no problems now except that Trump’s ego has been bruised because he lost to Joe Biden. If he would leave everything alone, things would run smoothly.

The plan is for the postal service to be able to block mail-in ballots from going to states that do not hand over voter rolls. The Department of Homeland Security will compile a state-by-state citizens list to see who is eligible to vote. If you have ever worked for any entity of government – city, county, state, federal – you would know that there can be a high rate of incompetence. And if they install loyalists to do the work, then how many Democrats will be removed from voter rolls?

Greg Abbott has sent in our information, of course. And that honestly makes me quite nervous because we have very consequential elections in Texas this year. Let’s hope that Trump does not dig up Musk and his merry band of Doge twenty-somethings to wreak craziness.

One saving grace would be that the Blue States will sue and get back to the Supreme Court and tie things up until after November this year. For all the talk about leftist radicals cheating when it comes to voting, it’s Trump and the Republicans who have brought out the big shredder and are ready to do away with the Constitution. A judge in Massachusetts supposedly has put a stop to the USPS tampering with mail-in ballots. Trump does what he wants, so I’m almost positive that will not affect anything.

Wyoming’s conservative Governor was very disturbed by the DOJ (Department of Justice) during their visit to a polling station. The DOJ attempted to interview voters and examine their voting machines. The Governor put a stop to that.

The Dallas Morning News and the San Antonio Current reported that the Texas Secretary of State’s office supposedly overhauled its election software, and it may have caused problems and backlogs.

Be careful. Pay close attention to this craziness that might change America forever. Our voices need to be raised louder than ever. Once we lose our right to free and fair elections, we have lost it all. We may be closer than we realize.
