Alexye’us Davenport Paris

After almost three decades of doing drag, Alexye’us Paris has earned the props she is now receiving. In June of this year, Joey Guerra, named her in a Houston Chronicle column headlined, “Shantay, they stay: These are 32 of Houston fiercest, most fabulous drag queens”.
The article reads, “Glamour and over the top beauty are Alexye’us Paris’ calling cards. She’s been doing drag since 1997 and can be seen weekly at Barcode and the Houston Eagle. Paris, who could be considered a pageant queen, has won many titles during her two-plus decades years of performing. She’s also smart and funny on social media.”Paris is director of entertainment at two Houston clubs, Eagle Houston and Club Morena’s. She has won Miss Gay Texas US of A at Large, Miss Essence International Plus and Miss Gay Houston US of A pageants.

How long have you been doing drag/entertaining?
I have been doing drag for 27 years, starting in 1997.
Favorite thing about drag/entertaining?
I love being able to connect with the audience.I love what they consider Texas drag: big hair, lots of jewels and glamour drag.
What is your favorite number/and or celebrity to perform?
My favorite impersonation that I do is Mary J. Blige. My favorite number to perform at this moment is Jade Novah’s Whitney Houston tribute.
Who is your inspiration?
My inspiration has always been Lawanda Jackson. From shows, to pageants, to the movies that she has been in she has always shown that I can do anything as long as I put my mind to it and put in the work it takes to get it.
An interesting fact:
An interesting fact about me is that out of drag, I am actually very shy.When not on stage,what do you do for fun?I am learning to have fun off stage. I usually work five days a week plus traveling so on my off days I’m preparing for the next week of shows.
Where can we catch your act?
You can catch me on the stage on Sundays at Houston Eagle at 7:30p.m., Barcode Houston on the first and second Saturdays and third Fridays each month, PLAY Nightlife (2409 Grant Avenue) every Thursday and all around the great state of Texas.
