Pride celebrations no longer end in June with traditional Pride Month festivities and parades. LGBTQ+ Pride has become a yearlong commemoration, especially in areas surrounding Houston proper.

Galveston and Rosenberg will play host to local celebrations in August and early September as Pride Galveston and Fort Bend County Pride show off their rainbow colors.

Pride Galveston

The island begins its festivities on Friday, August 16 with the Mister & Miss Pride Galveston Pageant at Island Time Beach Bar, 3102 Seawall Blvd.

Pride Galveston weekend kicks into high gear on Friday, August 30, with the Neon Party and Drag Show at Robert’s Lafitte, 2501 Avenue Q.

On Saturday, August 3, the party moves to Apffel Park for a rain-or-shine Beach Bash. Later that day, the after party is at Robert’s Lafitte starting at 9 p.m.

Pride Galveston weekend wraps up on Sunday, September 1, with the 5th  annual Pool Party at Robert’s Lafitte. Besides tanned bodies, the party will have live DJ’s by the pool, special shows inside the bar throughout the afternoon (headliners will be the winners of Mr. & Miss Pride) and male dancers.

More information is available at PrideGalveston.com.

Fort Bend County Pride

The Fort Bend County Fairgrounds in Rosenberg will host the first Fort Bend County Pride on Sunday, August 11.

“Fort Bend County Pride envisions empowering the hearts, minds, and spirits of all LGBTQIA+ individuals. Through embracing diversity, uplifting the community, and advocating for social change, we aim to create a more inclusive and equal society in Fort Bend County. Fort Bend County Pride, having seen the need for a safe and inclusive space in Fort Bend County, is launching our first Pride event. We are looking forward to hosting more than 1,000 attendees at this first event along with vendors and exhibitors. The festival will be totally free for the community, and we look forward to leaving a legacy of Pride in Fort Bend County thanks to our generous sponsors,” reads the organization’s website.

The festival will run from 2 p.m.’til 8 p.m. and will feature entertainment, a kids zone and a senior corner, along with food and drinks.

More information is available at FortBendCountyPride.org.
