Jay Mays and Robin Mack, two passionate and artistic community activists, are the guest speakers at PFLAG Houston’s monthly public meeting. Scheduled Sunday March 11, their presentation is titled A is for Ally: Creating Gender Inclusive Environments Together.
Collaborating with their lifelong friend, Mel Reiff Hill, Mays and Mack created The Gender Book to provide an easily accessible educational resource to support the transgender community. Published in March 2014, this delightful book features hand-drawn colorful graphics and includes information on subsequent training opportunities to increase awareness about the broad spectrum of gender identity expressions and attractions.
The meeting begins at 2 p.m. in the Jones building at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 5501 Main Street. Parking is available between Fannin and San Jacinto. Small groups, where members and visitors can confidentially share their individual journeys, follow the program. A small group is dedicated to families of transgender loved ones.
