America (is not) the beautiful

Commentary: Each month we enjoy sharing information about nutrition that has helped many of us live fuller, richer lives because of the care that we take with the food that we put into our bodies.
We like to eat the right foods because good nutrition works well in keeping our heart and lungs and liver, and all of the other organs floating around inside of us, happy and functioning to their optimum.
But then there is our mind. These days, no matter how much good fruit, good veggies and tofu I ingest, my mind seems to be having great difficulties.
Tariffs up, tariffs down and then a few days later up for some and down for others. Is this the art of Trump’s deal or a way for his extremely wealthy cronies to make a few extra bucks? As he plays this deadly game, how many regular folks are watching their 401Ks tumble?
And then my stressed mind sees a picture of the always over tanned face of RFK, Jr., the
poster boy for testosterone and God knows what other type of injections to keep that six pack of his from getting flabby. I know a lot of anti-vaxxers and most of them are adults. Measles, which had been put out to pasture long ago, is back. It doesn’t have to be. Children are dying of it, many in the great (?) state of Texas.
Kennedy visits a family of a dead child and the father. Though he is an expert on nothing medical, Kennedy thinks that there are unknown “things” in those measles vaccines. I’m not a mean person and I would never say this to the father, but my alter ego wants to say, “WTF? Your child is dead. Maybe the vaccine would have saved you from having to bury a young child?”
This administration and RFK, Jr. (and I must include the Jr. He’s not a tenth of the man that his father was), are firing and laying off experts in every field that exists in this country. Laying off people in research…medical and otherwise. Why? These cabinet members and appointees are as mean and miserable and dumb as the man that chose them. This is now the horror of America.
And I can’t even mention Musk. The only spectrum he is on is the “I am bat shit crazy” spectrum.
While these distractions in Washington go on, like the Greenland chatter, what are these fools doing to our voting machines? What is going to happen in 2026?
Tonight I will eat a wonderful and healthy meal but today I needed two large chocolate chip cookies to soothe my mind. And they did. People go crazy when someone burns a flag or when someone takes a knee, but they are doing nothing as the fabric of our country is being ripped to shreds. The memory of those chocolate chip cookies will hold me over through the times when I feel like I can’t read or hear one more word from the idiots running this country. In the meantime, take care of your bodies and your minds!
